General Policies of Darton Library Proof of Identification:
Search Service (for items not found on the designated shelf)Patrons who can not locate an item in the stacks or on the sorting shelves may come to the Circulation Desk to see if the book is charged out, on reserve, at the bindery, or elsewhere. If none of these apply, a search may be requested. If the item is found, the patron is notified. If the item is not found, it will be searched at least four times over a two-week period. The patron will be notified if the book is not located. When appropriate, Circulation may then refer the patron to Interlibrary Loan. Acquisitions will be notified of the missing book, and the book will be designated as missing or lost in the Library catalog.HoldsA book charged out to another patron can be recalled or put on hold. All patrons are eligible to request a hold to be put on a charged-out book. When the book is returned, the patron requesting the hold will be notified that the book is being held for him/her at the Circulation Desk for seven days. For more information see Holds. Students, Faculty and Staff may request a recall to be put on a charged out book. When the book is returned to the Circulation Desk, the patron requesting the recall will be notified that the book is being held for him/her at the Circulation Desk for seven days. When a recall is placed, the person who has borrowed the book will be asked to bring it back if they have had it for at least two weeks. They will not be able to renew the book. If the book is not returned they may face fines, restriction of library privileges, and flagging of their College student records. For more information see Recalls. |
