Faculty & Staff Borrowing Privileges and ObligationsFaculty and Staff may keep books with standard circulation periods for 28 days or may request Semester long loans. These are subject to recall or hold for use by other patrons.A patron is responsible for all items checked out in his/her name until those items clear our Circulation Desk. Until they are cleared by our Circulation Desk, books left in the Public Library book drops remain the patron's responsibility. Books left in the Public Library book drops may not be returned immediately to Circulation. As long as a book has not been recalled or put on hold items may be renewed two times by bringing them into the library or by going to http://gil.darton.edu/ and viewing your account information. Exceptions to these guidelines include certain restricted materials. Items charged out manually need to be returned to the library for renewal. These charges may not appear online. Items CANNOT be renewed over the phone. Faculty may check out bound volumes of periodicals for two days. Current issues of periodicals do not circulate without special permission. The loan period of items recalled for other patrons becomes shortened. Items recalled by another patron should be returned as soon as possible. Using a Proxy to Charge Out Books: Should a faculty member wish a student, secretary, or someone else to charge out material for the faculty member’s use, the faculty member must call ahead to the Circulation Desk (6766) to give authorization. The faculty member is responsible for any charges. A patron who suspects that an item charged out in his/her name has been lost should report it as soon as possible to the Circulation Desk. A patron who loses an item is responsible for reimbursing the Library for the replacement cost and any special processing fees.
